The Flomatic 4789VFD 6" 63 cast-iron foot valve is a heavy-duty spring-assisted foot valve designed for demanding suction line applications and variable flow conditions. It features an epoxy-coated cast iron body, ductile iron poppet, 316 stainless-steel spring and stem, engineered composite cap and guide, a Nitrile (Buna-N) seal, and a galvanized steel strainer. It is rated for a maximum working pressure of 250 psi and a maximum temperature of 180°F (80°C).

Operation: The 63VFD Foot valve is mounted at the end of a suction pipe to help maintain pump prime and reduce reverse flow. The spring-assisted poppet begins to close as flow diminishes and closes fully as flow reverses, helping to limit backflow and hydraulic shock in systems with variable flow conditions.

Construction: An epoxy-coated cast iron body provides strength and corrosion protection, while the internal poppet, guide, and spring are selected by size to balance durability and hydraulic performance. The heavy-duty strainer offers a large open area to reduce head loss while helping to keep larger debris out of the suction piping. FNPT threaded ends simplify installation into standard threaded piping systems.
